Terms & Conditions

These terms cover the JTeen website, the JTeen app, and JTeen text messaging. JTeen is a program of Chabad of the Shore, a New Jersey nonprofit religious organization. Updated October 22, 2026.

Who these terms are with

"We," "us," and "JTeen" mean Chabad of the Shore, 620 Ocean Ave, Long Branch, NJ 07740. "You" means the person using a JTeen account, website, or text service. Using any of them means you accept these terms.

Accounts and membership

JTeen accounts are for people aged 13 and older. Every account request is reviewed and approved by JTeen staff before access is granted. You are responsible for keeping your password private and for activity under your account. Give us accurate information, and keep it current — event attendance, service hours, and points records depend on it.

Teen participation in JTeen programs is subject to an annual registration fee. Individual programs and events carry no separate charge unless stated when the event is announced.

Points, trivia, and prizes

Points are earned through event attendance, verified community service, and trivia answers, and are awarded at the discretion of JTeen staff. Points have no cash value, cannot be transferred or sold, and may be corrected or removed if they were recorded in error. Prize drawings are open to active JTeen members in 8th through 12th grade; alumni retain account access but are not eligible for prizes. No purchase is necessary to participate, and prize availability may change.

SMS Terms

JTeen offers an optional text-message service operated by Chabad of the Shore. These SMS terms apply to it:

• Program description. Chabad of the Shore sends JTeen event reminders, trivia questions, and program updates to people who have opted in.
• How to join. Text the keyword JTEEN to 224-445-8336 and reply Y to the confirmation message. You are not enrolled until you reply Y.
• Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on participation. Trivia questions are sent twice weekly, with additional answer responses, winner announcements, event reminders, and program updates.
• Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Chabad of the Shore does not charge for the text service; your mobile carrier's standard rates apply.
• How to stop. Reply STOP to any message to be removed. You will receive one confirmation message and nothing further. Reply START to rejoin.
• How to get help. Reply HELP, email [email protected], or call 732-229-2424.
• Parent permission. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must give permission before you opt in.
• Carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed and depends on your carrier and device.
• Supported carriers. The service works on major U.S. wireless carriers. Carrier support may change without notice.
• Privacy. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Use JTeen for what it is for. Do not share your account, submit someone else's information, attempt to reach records that are not yours, interfere with the service, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend or close an account that does. Content you submit — messages, answers, photos — should be yours to share and appropriate for a teen program.

Photos at events

Photos taken at JTeen events may be used in JTeen and Chabad of the Shore materials. If you would rather your teen not appear, tell Rabbi Yaakov and we will honor it.

Service availability

We work to keep JTeen running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change or be withdrawn. The service is provided as is, without warranties, and to the extent the law allows, Chabad of the Shore is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it.

Account deletion

You can request deletion at any time through our account deletion page.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey.
